“Value Them Both” Constitutional Amendment Approved by Kansas House!

After a vigorous debate that saw some extreme amendments offered by allies of the abortion industry, Kansans for Life is pleased to announce that the “Value Them Both” constitutional amendment passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 86-38, more than the 2/3rd supermajority needed.

Value Them Both (HCR 5003) is critical to keeping all existing limits on the abortion industry in place, after state court rulings endangered these laws. The amendment safeguards protections for women and babies, such as full informed consent for women considering abortion, minimum health and safety standards for abortion facilities, parental involvement for minor’s abortions, and no taxpayer funding of abortion.

While there are many legislative heroes today, Kansans for Life  KFL extends special thanks to state Reps. Tory Marie Arnberger (R-Great Bend) and Susan Humphries (R-Wichita) for carrying the Value Them Both on the Kansas House floor.

Passage of Value Them Both would not have been possible without the steadfast support of Speaker of the House Ron Ryckman (R-Olathe), Majority Leader Dan Hawkins (R-Wichita), and Speaker Pro Tem Blaine Finch (R-Ottawa).

Kansans for Life is hopeful that the state Senate will vote on Value Them Both very soon. When that happens, the amendment will be put before the voters of Kansas on the August 2022 primary ballot.
