Never count GenZ out—especially when it comes to the pro-life movement.

GenZ, or Generation Z, generally refers to those individuals who were born from 1997 onward—the eldest of whom are 24 years of age.

This age cohort grew up with social media and are considered the most ethnically-diverse generation. They have lived through the financial collapse of 2008 and the current COVID-19 pandemic and they are beginning to take their place in the workforce. They are extremely tech-savvy and socially conscious and much in tune with current events.

Recently, members of GenZ poured their hearts out in essays for the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Essay Contest. Through the encouragement of teachers and parents, they created thoughtful, engaging written works detailing their pro-life beliefs.

Meanwhile, the Keystone State’s pro-life oratory contest winner from 2018 is planning to intern with the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, a National Right to Life affiliate, this summer. Jessie is so excited to be attending the National Right to Life Convention in June that she invited a friend to come along and share the experience. These two GenZ-ers are on fire for life, and they cannot wait to help lead the pro-life movement going forward.

Sadly, GenZ has borne the cost of legal abortion through the loss of siblings and potential friends. It has been estimated that 1 in 5 babies is lost to abortion—a tragedy of epic proportions. Nearly 900,000 preborn babies lose their lives each year in abortion facilities. That’s like losing the population of a major metropolitan area in what are utterly preventable deaths.

But if members of GenZ can power through the pain and isolation caused by the Coronavirus lockdowns, I have full faith that they can bring an end to legal abortion in their lifetimes. Their generation gives seasoned pro-lifers incredible hope for an abortion-free future.
