Young Argentinian woman dies after undergoing legal chemical abortion

Last December NRL News Today reported that Argentina had passed a law legalizing elective abortion, fulfilling a campaign promise made by the country’s president.

Yesterday, ACI Prensa, the world’s largest Spanish-language Catholic news organization and the partner of the Catholic News Agency, reported that a 23-year-old student in the town of La Paz in Mendoza Province, Argentina, had died April 11 after undergoing a chemical abortion.

In a terrible irony, the Biden administration chose this week to do away with FDA regulations  requiring that abortion pills be distributed in person by certified health care providers from authorized hospitals, clinics, and private practice offices.

María del Valle González López was reportedly the first woman to die since the law legalizing elective abortion was passed December 30. “The results of the autopsy should be known soon, although it is not clear exactly when they will be released.”

According to the story, which quoted extensively from the Argentine newspaper Clarín,  María del Valle González López went to a hospital in La Paz to have her abortion.

Clarín reported, “There she was prescribed a medication – presumably misoprostol–and on Friday she began to feel ill. She was referred to the main healthcare facility in the eastern area of Mendoza, Perrupato Hospital, where they diagnosed a general infection that may have caused her death.”

Prior to her death,  there have thousands of “adverse events” associated with chemical abortions and 24 deaths, although those totals are now years old.

ACI Prensa reported

The deceased young woman was studying Social Work at the National University of Cuyo. As soon as her death became known, various activists and pro-life groups in Argentina flooded social media with the hashtags #MurióPorAbortoLegal (she died from legal abortion) and #AbortoLegalMataIgual (legal abortion kills the same way as illegal).

On Monday pro-life leader Guadalupe Batallán tweeted that

“María del Valle was 23 years old and had her whole life in front of her. She was a student and had become president of Radical Youth in Mendoza. She had a legal abortion on Wednesday and by the weekend she was already dead. I’m telling you because the feminists remain silent. #MurioPorAbortoLegal.”
