I was reading through the colorful newsletter when a statistic, bolded in pink, caught my eye:
“Over the last year, 89% of the women who walked through our doors in York chose life, even in the midst of a pandemic.”
Imagine that: the vast majority of pregnant women who visited the Women’s Care Center in York, Pennsylvania found the support and encouragement they needed to bring their precious children into the world.
The more I read, the more fascinated I was. For that 89% added up to another astonishing figure: 469 preborn babies saved. Think of how many kindergarten classes or soccer teams that entails.
The newsletter continued, “This is because you helped us stay open for in-person care when most other organizations were closed or just doing virtual care.”
Even a worldwide pandemic could not stop the love that empowers pregnant women and saves babies from harm. It is a testament to the strength and power of the pro-life movement, a movement that cares greatly for both mother and child.
According to the newsletter, “In every community with a Women’s Care Center, abortions decline.”
What a tremendous legacy to leave in a community—babies saved, women encouraged, heartache averted.
Often advocates of abortion ask, if Roe v. Wade is overturned and states pass laws outlawing abortion, where will pregnant women go?
The answer for many will be pregnancy resource centers, where their mourning can turn into joy. These centers, which offer services without charge, represent the vital safety net which can protect pregnant women and their babies from harm.
The pro-life movement is ready, willing, and able to welcome pregnant women and their children with open arms. And that means we are ready for an overturn of Roe.
