Pro-lifers in Pennsylvania step up to oppose pro-abortionists attempt to win court approval of “right” to abortion

A female Pennsylvania state Senator is leading the charge to protect the Keystone State’s Constitution from the extremism of the abortion industry.

Senator Judy Ward, a Republican from central Pennsylvania, is circulating a co-sponsorship memo for a Constitutional Amendment to ensure that abortion is kept out of the state Constitution.

The amendment is necessary because of a lawsuit filed by the abortion industry, which is now before the PA Supreme Court. The abortion businesses are asking the Court to establish a Constitutional right to taxpayer funding of abortion, along with a so-called fundamental right to abortion.

As Senator Ward stated, “Pennsylvania’s laws that protect the life and health of women and preborn children are in jeopardy, including those related to gestational age for an abortion, informed consent for an abortion, and regulation of abortion clinics.”

Senator Ward also decried the abortion industry’s efforts to eliminate Medicaid restrictions on taxpayer funding of abortion.

“Forcing taxpayer funding of any elective abortion would necessarily result in a reallocation of funding priorities, potentially jeopardizing the real healthcare needs of the almost three million Pennsylvanians on Medicaid.”

Because of pro-life majorities in the Pennsylvania Senate and House of Representatives, the abortion industry and its allies have been unable to pass pro-abortion legislation. As a result, they have turned to the courts in an effort to strike down Pennsylvania’s time-tested protective laws.

“What the abortion industry is asking the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to do is to bypass both the legislative process and the constitutional amendment process and to manufacture out of thin air a right to elective abortion and taxpayer funding of elective abortion, presumably during all nine months of pregnancy,” Senator Ward added.

If you live in Pennsylvania, please contact your state lawmakers and urge them to support this Constitutional Amendment. You can do so conveniently by clicking here.
