Florida Right to Life supports legislation to end brutal late-term abortions

Senator Keli Stargel and Representative Erin Grall introduce life saving legislation

TALLAHASSEE, FL – On opening day of the Florida Legislative session two of our pro-life champions introduced H.B. 5 (State Rep. Grall) and S.B. 146, (state Sen. Stargel). Florida Right to Life strongly encourages swift passage and will do everything in its power to support and pass this legislation banning abortions past 15-weeks. Our Pro-Life Governor stated his unwavering support in his State of the State address this week.

‘Floridians want barbaric late abortions stopped, they have elected a Pro-Life majority in the legislature and a Pro-Life governor.” stated Lynda Bell, President of Florida Right to Life. “The time for action is now! FORIDA RIGHT TO LIFE commends Senator Stargel and Representative Grall for their ongoing and tireless support for the lives of unborn babies and their mothers. Late abortions after 15 weeks are cruel and inhumane and should be stopped in Florida.”

Data clearly shows that Floridians are against late-term abortions. Even among those who find abortion acceptable, that number drops like a rock for second and third trimester abortion. Americans and specifically Floridians do not like or accept abortion in the second and third trimester.

A 2021 Gallup poll found that while 47% of Americans find abortion acceptable, that number drops to 34% in the second trimester and only 19% in the third. The U.S. is only one of seven countries that allows babies to be killed in all 9 months of pregnancy.

“How appalling that we are right there alongside China and North Korea in allowing barbaric late-term abortion procedures,” said Lynda Bell.
