WASHINGTON —On Tuesday, National Right to Life’s Chief Representative to the United Nations, Jeanne Head, R.N., was presented with the Maximilian Kolbe Friend to the Nations Medal in recognition of her lifelong work in protecting innocent human life.

Ms. Head serves on the board of directors of National Right to Life as the New York State Right to Life representative and on the National Right to Life Executive Committee.

Ms. Head is one of only four recipients of the medal which is presented by the Center for Family and Human Rights (C-Fam).

According to C-Fam, the medal is awarded to a person who has “contributed in a significant way to the global defense of the unborn and the family.”

Ms. Head, along with Peter Smith, former Chief UN Representative for the Society for the Protection of the Unborn (U.K.), and John Klink, former diplomat of the Holy See Mission to the United Nations, formed the groundwork for the pro-life movement’s international work at the United Nations.

“Jeanne Head’s efforts at the United Nations laid the foundation for the international pro-life community’s presence at the UN as well as the movement’s determination to prevent a global ‘right’ to abortion,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “No one has the right to take the life of another innocent and vulnerable human being and Jeanne Head’s work at the United Nations was fundamental in preventing a global expansion of abortion on demand.”

In presenting the award to Ms. Head, C-Fam noted, “That a global right to abortion does not exist is an accomplishment that can be credited to you and your tireless efforts through long days and long nights at UN headquarters and at negotiations around the world.”
