In an election year, it doesn’t hurt to have a media powerhouse such as the Washington Post tout your political muscle. But, then again, it’s the same-old, same-old every two years: the pro-abortion political machine EMILY’s List is going to spent “x” amount of dollars to win “x” elections.
This time it’s the Post’s Rachel Roubein telling us “This abortion rights group is fighting back in a tough environment”. There is a couple of throwaway paragraphs about the pro-life side but that’s just filler so as to pretend the story is “balanced.”
Roubein talked to Laphonza Butler, the president Emily’s List, “which has helped elect hundreds of women who support abortion rights.” Their goals are pretty much self-evident: “keep congressional Democratic majorities [which they hold by razor-thin margins]” and “elect abortion rights supporters in state-level positions, such as governors and attorneys general.”
Butler declined to offers specifics—“the organization’s budget for the 2022 election cycle and its specific strategy”—but Roubein offered something better: “Over the organization’s 37-year history, it has raised more than $700 million to elect Democratic women who support abortion rights. And in the last election cycle, Emily’s List spent a record of nearly $50 million in independent expenditures, almost half of which went to supporting women of color, according to the group’s website. ”
All this and more is required because “Democrats are expected to face a rough election year. And the moment is even more fraught for abortion rights supporters as the Supreme Court appears likely to undermine Roe v. Wade’s nearly half-century-old protections.”
As it has in the past, National Right to Life will take on EMILY’s List.
Despite being vastly outspent by pro-abortion organizations such as EMILY’s List, pro-life candidates supported by National Right to Life won in 2020 by significant margins. There were 58 races in which a candidate supported by National Right to Life was running against a candidate supported by the pro-abortion PAC EMILY’s List. Forty-one (or 71%) of the National Right to Life-supported candidates won!
Please read “Voters Must Hold Democrats Accountable for Vote on Abortion-Without-Limits Bill” which will appear into the monthly NRL News tomorrow. It’ll provide a much needed counterweight to the loving coverage of the pro-abortion side by the likes of the Washington Post.
