This afternoon I stuck my head into the office of Press Secretary Laura Echevarria and (foolishly) asked, “How’s it going?” She smiled, like many of the staff, still exhausted from the 51st National Right to Life, but running on adrenaline.
National Right to Life continues to be inundated with media requests. Our president, Carol Tobias, was particularly in demand and she delivered with grace, wit, and from decades of experience.
Last Friday, I wrote about how we learned that the Supreme Court had not only upheld Mississippi’s 15 week ban on abortions but had used Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Organization to overturn Roe v. Wade and Casey.
NRL’s Executive Director, Dr. David N. Osteen said something that many of us felt but had not articulated:
I had always thought that Roe v. Wade would be overturned. And it would happen by God’s Grace and in His time. But recently I had increasingly thought that it would not happen in my lifetime.
I’ve written many stories today and reposted others. I will return to write about the convention again tomorrow. Suffice it to say, it brought tears of joy and expressions of determination not to allow this great victory to slip out of our hands. The babies need us (to quote Super Bowl champion Matt Birk) to “step up our game.”
We will.
