Digging into the first Post-Roe v. Wade issue of National Right to Life News

In case you missed it, on Monday the first post-Roe v. Wade issue of NRL News–“the pro-life newspaper of record”—arrived in your email.

Page after page, we examine the historic Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization from stem to stern. In addition, we offer in-depth coverage of the 51st Annual National Right to Life Convention which was held in Atlanta, Georgia, June 24-25.

Our executive director, Dr. David N. O’Steen, offers a first-hand account with “49-5-2.” He explains what the headline means in the first paragraph: “Forty-nine years, five months, two days; that was the time I had really been in the right to life movement,” he writes. “It was also the age of Roe vs. Wade when it finally fell.”

Joining Dr. O’Steen on page one is Jacki Ragan, Director of State Organizational Development Department and Conventions. In “Unanswered Prayers: my timing was not God’s timing for Dobbs v. Jackson,” she conveys the unbridled excitement the audience felt when at a General Session someone at the back of the room shouted out “Roe is overturned!”

All of us in attendance will know the answer to “Where were you when Roe was overturned?: A day that will forever be ingrained in our history and our hearts,” written by Melissa Ohden. In the same building with hundreds of fellow pro-life champions, that’s where.

On  page 4, you’ll find “National Right to Life Committee Proposes Legislation to Protect the Unborn Post-Roe.” Get a heads up with a roadmap for the journey ahead.

“The Post-Dobbs Future in Congress,” written by Jennifer Popik, JD, NRLC Director of Federal Legislation, appears on page 5. It is must reading. There’s an overview of State Legislation, an exhaustive history of the “Abortion Pill,” and a delightful read written by Laura Echevarria, our Press Secretary, titled simply “Overturned.”

But we’ve still only scratched the surface.

Tomorrow I will address more of the first post-Roe v. Wade issue of National Right to Life News. In the meanwhile, please continue reading.
