Biden’s “comeback” disappears in a week, back down to 38% job approval

To state the superabundantly obvious, the media will pump up anything that suggests pro-abortion President Joe Biden is “on the comeback track.” As CBS News put it last week, “Biden’s approval rating on the upswing.”

The problem, of course, is that Biden’s approval is so low that the media will portray any increase as reason for celebration. For example,  “The two-day poll, completed Tuesday, showed Biden’s rating at 41 percent — the first time it has topped 40 percent since the beginning of the summer.”

That was last week which is the other problem: being mired in the high 30s and low 40s, as the President has been for months and months,  is not going to improve substantially–or for long.

Speaking of which, here’s Reuters own take on this week’s Reuters/Ipsos poll:

U.S. President Joe Biden’s public approval rating fell modestly this week, a poor sign for his Democratic Party’s hopes in the Nov. 8 midterm elections, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll completed on Tuesday.

The two-day national poll found that 38% of Americans approve of Biden’s job performance.

While Biden’s approval rating hit 41% last week, it has been mostly below 40% since mid-June despite a string of Democratic legislative victories that Biden’s allies hope will help them defend their narrow congressional majorities in November.

Another way of looking at the same figures is this by Wendell Husebo:

President Joe Biden’s net approval rating dropped a full seven points in one week, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday.

Only 38 percent approved of Biden this week, while 58 percent disapproved for a net approval rating of -20. Last week, 41 percent approved of Biden and 54 percent disapproved for a net approval rating of -13.

And the sample certainly didn’t inflate the number of Republicans who participated. ”The poll sampled 1,005 Americans with a four-point margin of error.” Husebo wrote. “Those sampled included 449 Democrats and 357 Republicans.”
