Mexico Decriminalizes Abortion, Pro-Aborts Celebrate

Just your daily dose of people celebrating the idea of killing more babies.

On Wednesday, Mexico’s Supreme Court decriminalized abortion, ruling that national laws that ban the practice are unconstitutional and violate women’s rights before throwing out all federal criminal penalties.

“The First Chamber of the Court ruled that the legal system that penalizes abortion in the Federal Criminal Code is unconstitutional, since it violates the human rights of women and people with the capacity to gestate,” the Supreme Court said on X in a tweet translated from Spanish to English.

Now, women in Mexico can legally kill their babies before they even get to take their first breath.

As the Associated Press reported, around 20 Mexican states still criminalize abortions. But now, “judges in those states will have to abide by the court’s decision,” though “further legal work will be required to remove all penalties.”

In the last few years, countries across Latin America have taken part in what’s called a “green wave,” referencing the green bandanas worn by many pro-abort groups. The wave has facilitated a movement of lifting abortion bans and restrictions across the region. While this Supreme Court ruling doesn’t immediately grant every Mexican woman access to abortion at any point, it does obligate federal agencies “to provide the care to patients,” the AP reported.

Because remember, pro-aborts think killing a kid is somehow “care.”

“This is likely to have a cascade of effects,” the AP report indicated. As it stands presently, even though 20 of the 32 states in Mexico deem abortion illegal, women in those states can now legally seek abortion if the procedure is done in federal hospitals or clinics. Not to mention, regardless of where women are from, the new law will prohibit employees and abortionists from being penalized from carrying out abortions.

“Hopefully, this is the preamble so that the court can go state by state helping local legislatures eliminate the crime of abortion, since legislators do not do their job,” Verónica Cruz, founder of a pro-abort feminist group, said according to The New York Times.

Others shared a similar sentiment on X.

“A sound, rational decision. There is no logical reason to police pregnancy and make human gestation subject to the criminal justice system,” one said. Planned Parenthood wrote, “¡Viva México! This historic decision to decriminalize abortion is a huge win in the global fight for reproductive rights and bodily autonomy. Abortion is health care, period.” Ironic that they used “viva” which means live or life when talking about ending it.

Others called on the U.S. to follow suit, insisting that “Mexicans have more rights than American women.”

“Sad to think that U.S. women may soon have to go to Mexico to get an abortion,” another wrote.

At the same time, pro-life individuals and groups mourned the devastating decision that will lead to the deaths of countless babies.

“Lord have mercy. Let’s pray for Mexico,” one woman wrote, and another added, “Heartbreaking. We shall continue to pray and be prepared for whatever God calls us to do. People are so lost and confused. It’s hard to even hear all the craziness sometimes. Lord help us to persevere and give us the fortitude to do your will.”

It is devastating that many are celebrating this decision and calling it a “victory” or a “win.” Those words should never be coupled with the murder of innocent babies – but it appears Mexico, despite being a largely Catholic nation, cares more about an agenda than actual life.

What a shame.
