Pro-abortion Vice President Harris fares much better with college kids than she does on “Face the Nation”

No surprise that on Vice President Kamala Harris’ National “Fight for Our Freedoms” College Tour she would feel more at home on the abortion issue than she did on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

Speaking at Reading Area Community College, Reading, Pennsylvania, Harris was thrown softballs on every topic but none easier to hit out of the park than a question about abortion which used the recent “liberalization” in Mexico as a model for the U.S.

Harris rambled but said

“One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree the government should not be telling her what to do with her body.”

And

“This is the reason to really take seriously elections, because what the Supreme Court took away, the United States Congress can put back in place, in terms of those protections, under a case called Roe v. Wade.”

And

“And Joe Biden has been very clear: He will sign that bill to put back in place those protections.”

Of course, what Harris was talking about is the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act” which goes miles and miles past Roe. The WHPA would essentially remove all legal protections for unborn children on the federal and state level and prevent future protections for unborn children.

That was a walk in the park. Just us friends here. Not so for Harris’s appearance on Face the Nation.

Moderator Margaret Brennan grilled Harris, challenging her to put an upper limit on far into pregnancy she and the President would allow abortion. As for a specific limit, no luck.

Harris’s responses were robotic. She kept telling the admirably persistent Brennan “No, no, no, no, no. Let me be very clear” and “Let me be very clear” only to retreat to the party line: “From day one, the president has been clear, I have been clear. We need to put back the protections that are in Roe v. Wade into law.”

Later, Brennan pressed one last time—asking Harris “to be more precise” —to which Harris responded, “I am being precise. We need to put into law the protections of Roe v. Wade. And that is about going back to where we were before the Dobbs decision.”

Just guessing I’ll bet Harris prefers an adoring college audience over a reporter who asks tough questions.
