Pro-abortion lies about pro-life goals sway Virginia’s 2023 Election

In a very sad turn of events, despite a hard scrabble ground game organized by Virginia Society for Human Life and other pro-life groups in the Commonwealth, abortion proponents won additional seats in the House and Senate giving them control of the General Assembly.

With one race undecided in both chambers, the final count of pro-abortion to pro-life seats in the Senate is 21Democrats to 18 Republicans; in the House of Delegates it is 51 Democrats to 48 Republican.

Months of ads deliberately lying about the goals of pro-life Republicans misled many voters. A commonsense bill, backed by pro-life. Gov. Glen Youngkin, would protect the lives of preborn babies capable of feeling pain after 15 weeks. Democrats also floated the falsehood  that pro-life candidates intended to punish women seeking abortions.

Outside pro-abortion groups, including Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and Emily’s List poured millions into races all over the state to help pro-abortion candidates gain control of the General Assembly. Pro-abortion advocates seek to force their radical abortion agenda of unrestricted abortion up to birth and enshrine abortion in the state constitution.

“Pro-abortion groups and business are the winners of this year’s elections, not the women or babies of Virginia.” said Olivia Gans Turner, VSHL President. “In spite of this tragic outcome for all Virginians, VSHL will do all that can be done to continue to protect helpless unborn children and their mothers from the violence of abortion.”
