Illinois Democrat offers bill to provide $500 tax credit for “patients, their parents or guardians and health care providers” seeking an abortion

You’d expect the seats of government in pro-abortion states —House and Senate and the Governor— to come up with a myriad of ways to facilitate the killing. What’s happened is awful and few places can compete with Illinois in its race to the bottom.

And probably no one can compete with J.B. Pritzker, their outlandishly pro-abortion governor. Last fall reporter Grace Panetta outlined Pritzker agenda:

Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker of Illinois is launching a new organization, Think Big America, focused on passing abortion rights ballot measures around the country. Pritzker, a rising figure and major donor in national Democratic politics, plans to throw even more of his political and financial firepower into the fight to pass a ballot measure this fall in Ohio and efforts to get similar measures on the ballot in 2024 and beyond.

Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022, Pritzker has signed new laws expanding abortion access in Illinois, a key access point in the Midwest. He’s also tapped into his vast political and financial resources to fund abortion rights measures and candidates on the ballot.

When he visited CNN This Morning, Pritzker told co-host Poppy Harlow that Illinois was an “oasis” for “reproductive rights.” He encouraged women seeking abortions to visit his state.

Reporter Tina Sfondele began her account by writing

“Since Roe v. Wade has been overturned, Pritzker and the Democrat-led Illinois General Assembly have further expanded abortion rights in Illinois — seeking to create a safe haven for patients traveling from states that have banned abortions.”

But that’s just the beginning of Pritzker’s campaign to make Illinois the abortion capital of the Midwest. “The governor’s office also announced a request for proposals for a separate abortion service navigation hotline to help patients find abortion care in Illinois, including those traveling from states in which abortions are banned, with funding coming from the Health and Family Services Department’s budget and Medicaid dollars.”

That hotline– the Complex Abortion Regional Line for Access or CARLA for short–will be run by the Illinois Department of Health and Family Services, the Illinois Department of Public Health, the University of Illinois at Chicago, Rush University System for Health and (of course) the Chicago Abortion Fund.

Warming to the task Pritzker announced a new $5 million grant program to help abortion providers expand their practices and establish mobile abortion facilities to increase access to baby killing.

But Pritzker is not alone on an island. The Democrats in his state are every bit in Planned Parenthood’s hip pocket as is the Governor.

“Illinois has experienced a spike in out-of-state visitors seeking reproductive health services as neighboring states enact abortion restrictions and outright bans,” Patrick M. Keck reported for the Springfield State Journal- Register. “

Now, the state legislature is considering providing tax credits for those that relocate for those services.”

HB 5152, introduced last week by State Rep. Kelly Cassidy, would provide “a $500 tax credit for patients, their parents or guardians and health care providers starting this tax year.”
