A stand-up guy who stood courageously in solidarity with the most vulnerable among us

You just never know what surprises will pop up in your email inbox.

Today, I was scrolling through my emails when I came upon a message from Legacy.com. It was reminding me of the anniversary of the death of a stalwart pro-life hero.

You may not know his name, but Robert O’Neill’s influence had a ripple effect in south central Pennsylvania. He was one of the first people I met in the pro-life movement in the Keystone State, and he and his wife Bev became dear friends.

I recall fondly Bob’s calls to the Federation office, gathering the latest information about the cause of life. He was deeply devoted to helping pregnant women and their babies achieve hope and health, and for that I am profoundly grateful.

Bob was a stand-up guy who stood courageously in solidarity with the most vulnerable among us. His many kindnesses will never be forgotten.

As today’s champions of life, we stand on the shoulders of truly great men and women who gave their all to the pro-life cause. They made it possible for Roe v. Wade to be thrown into the ash heap of history. They also helped to ensure that a generation of children were saved from the tragedy of abortion.

May we never forget the founding mothers and fathers of the pro-life movement. They laid the groundwork for the successes we enjoy today.
