Melinda French Gates announces she will donate $1 billion to groups over the next two years including supporters of “abortion rights”

Two weeks ago, Melinda French Gates announced she was resigning from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation which she started with her ex-husband Bill Gates to do philanthropy elsewhere. Today French Gates said her organization, Pivotal Ventures “will be donating $1 billion over the next two years to organizations and individuals supporting women, families and abortion rights.”

Why funnel money into abortion? French Gates “said she felt compelled to support abortion rights in the U.S. after the Supreme Court in 2022 eliminated the constitutional right to an abortion,” Alyssa Lukpat reported for the Wall Street Journal.

In an essay published in the New York Times, French Gates bemoaned that “Women in 14 states have lost the right to terminate a pregnancy under almost any circumstances” adding “As shocking as it is to contemplate, my 1-year-old granddaughter may grow up with fewer rights than I had.”

How many 1-year-olds will never grow up with any rights, thanks to French Gates whom, with her then-husband Bill, never played down their zeal for “population control.”

She wraps her donation to the Abortion Industry in the high-minded notion of leveling the playing field:

While I have long focused on improving contraceptive access overseas, in the post-Dobbs era, I now feel compelled to support reproductive rights here at home. For too long, a lack of money has forced organizations fighting for women’s rights into a defensive posture while the enemies of progress play offense. I want to help even the match.

As we’ve written on innumerable occasions, the idea of the poor, underfunded abortion industry (including its massive political wing) chokes on its own hypocrisy. It is the defenders of life who scramble to raise funds, not Planned Parenthood or NARAL or EMILY’s LIST, whose individual budgets dwarf anything we can raise.

But, as we’ve also written on innumerable occasions, our Movement makes up in grit and determination what we lack in resources.

Even pro-abortion militant Hillary Clinton admitted as much in a story appearing in the New York Times:

“One thing I give the right credit for is they never give up,” she said. “They are relentless. You know, they take a loss, they get back up, they regroup, they raise more money.” She added: “It’s tremendously impressive the way that they operate. And we have nothing like it on our side.”

“Nothing like it on our side”?! Even Hillary must have smirked when she said that.
