Pro-abortion Sen. Bob Casey is now an apologist for the abortion industry and wants to dismantle his father’s courageous legacy

The sad descent of Senator Bob Casey with regard to the right to life is now complete.

Bob Casey has committed the ultimate political flip-flop. Voters need to know that the Casey name is no longer synonymous with the right to life.

In a recent television ad, Casey, who once sought out the endorsement of pro-life groups, attacks opponent Dave McCormick for McCormick’s stand supporting the protection of pregnant women and their babies from harm.

The Associated Press story, written by Marc Levy, pointed out that Casey had long since begun to leave left the pro-life camp:

“I don’t believe he ever wanted those (pro-life) beliefs to ever stand in the way of access to abortion, and now his position matters more than it did just two years ago,” said Brittany Crampsie, a Democratic strategist.

Mary Ziegler, a law professor at the University of California, Davis, who studies the history and politics of the abortion debate, said she thinks Casey had begun drifting from the anti-abortion movement well before the court overturned Roe v. Wade.

Casey previously proudly embraced the pro-life Democrat label worn by his father, the late Robert Casey Sr.

Robert Casey famously bucked his party leadership through his defense of human life. In fact, he played a pivotal role in the 1992 U.S. Supreme Court decision known as Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which sought to overturn the tragic 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling.

Now, Bob Casey supports legislation which would wipe out the protections signed into law in Pennsylvania by his father. This is a complete travesty. Pregnant women and their babies deserve the protection that the Abortion Control Act provides.

Rather, Bob Casey is now an apologist for the abortion industry and wants to dismantle his father’s courageous legacy.

The apple has indeed fallen far from the tree of life.
