Two individuals are directly victimized in abortion—the child who is killed and the mother who is wounded

Abortion—the taking of an innocent human life—is made possible through what might be called the Grand Deception.

The deception is multi-faceted. Voters are deceived into thinking that abortion is an innocuous procedure similar to having a tooth pulled.

Pregnant women are deceived into believing that abortion will solve a myriad of problems.

Fathers of unborn babies are deceived into thinking that abortion is a quick fix for an unexpected pregnancy.

Members of the media are deceived into believing that abortion offers women freedom to pursue their professional dreams.

But the reality is stark and decidedly distasteful.

A baby’s life is ended through a violent act. The baby’s body may be sucked out of the mother’s womb…or torn, limb by limb, from the woman’s body. In years past, the baby was essentially poisoned and burned through gruesome saline abortions. With the abortion drug, mifepristone, a baby is starved to death, with a second drug, misoprostol, used to expel the body of the dead baby from the mother’s uterus.

Abortion does not “solve” relationship problems, end financial strains, or automatically bestow a degree upon a woman. Instead of solving problems, abortion just creates more troubles.

Research indicates many relationships fall apart following abortion. In as many as 60 percent of cases, women are coerced into having abortions, and the person responsible for the coercion may be a husband or boyfriend.

Abortion limits love. We need to care for both mother and child, to ensure that each is treated with dignity and respect. Two individuals are directly victimized in abortion—the child who is killed and the mother who is wounded.

Let us work together to end the Grand Deception, so that both women and men know the truth: abortion is a violent remedy for the troubles that ail us. For the sake of women and their families, we must do better than abortion.
