As I write this, people in my local community are awaiting the birth of twins.
The mother has been admitted to the hospital and is being cared for as she prepares to meet her babies face-to-face.
She has already overcome tremendous obstacles, demonstrating incredible courage in fighting against the forces of darkness to say “yes” to life.
People have been pitching in, offering to care for the twins’ sibling, her young daughter…providing baby clothes and gear…and flooding the heavens with prayers.
This is what true accompaniment is all about. This is what the pro-life movement is all about.
We care deeply for both mother and child. It is not an either/or proposition for us. We recognize that we can stand up for both the woman and the baby, offering the support and encouragement that can turn a crisis into a blessing.
In this case, we are dealing not with a dynamic duo, but with a triumphant triad. Those twins have been loved long before they will emerge from their mother’s womb.
If you are a person of faith, say a little prayer for this brave mother and her twins, who are all in a delicate state right now. May they soon know the true joy that comes with birth!
