Kamala Harris: the Darling of the Abortion Industry

Jul 25, 2024

By Dave Andrusko

With lightening like speed, in a matter of days, the Democratic Establishment, which includes members of Congress, anointed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the party’s presidential nominee. A virtual Roll Call, to be held before the Democratic National Convention, will formally nominate Harris, who has carried the White House’s banner on abortion. A few thoughts.

On March 14  Harris went to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Minnesota, the first time a sitting president or vice president visited an abortion provider. Harris said, “Right now, in our country, we are facing a very serious health crisis.”

R. Albert Mohler Jr. observed, “In her Orwellian doublespeak, she dared to speak of a death clinic for the unborn as an answer to ‘a very serious health crisis.’”

Yesterday, Doug Emhoff, her husband, made it a family affair when he visited an abortion clinic in Virginia, “a Biden administration event that doubled as a sort of kick off for Mr. Emhoff as he began taking Ms. Harris’s abortion message on the road,” Simon J. Levien and Nicholas Nehamas reported for the New York Times.

Was Mohler exaggerating when he wrote “Kamala Harris will be the most radical abortion advocate in American political history”? Not at all. The Democrat Party is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abortion Industry. Here’s just a very partial list of her abortion extremism.

 * The greatest threat of Kamala Harris and her candidacy may be a threat to future Americans in the womb. Shortly after the Dobbs decision reversing Roe was handed down by the Supreme Court, Biden appointed Harris to run point on the abortion issue for his administration,” Mohler writes.

“As the attorney general of California and as a U.S. senator, Harris was a stalwart defender of abortion. In the Senate, she pushed an abortion bill that was modeled after the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and would allow federal courts to review any state restrictions on abortion, a process known as preclearance. Harris went straight after the ability of the states to protect unborn life.”

*While Attorney General of California, she “initiated criminal charges against David Daleiden after he exposed Planned Parenthood’s baby body parts trafficking scheme,” Matt Lamb writes.

She did so while running for U.S. Senate with the backing of Planned Parenthood. Harris’ office worked closely with Planned Parenthood officials to draft a law that would target future journalists who exposed abortion facilities through undercover recordings.

Harris also backed AB 775, which would have forced pro-life pregnancy centers to tell women where to get abortions. The Supreme Court eventually threw out the law in NIFLA v. Becerra. But in 2015, she praised the bill.

“I am proud to have co-sponsored the Reproductive FACT Act, which ensures that all women have equal access to comprehensive reproductive health care services, and that they have the facts they need to make informed decisions about their health and their lives,” Harris stated..

*One pro-abortion vote Harris took was to oppose efforts to protect babies from infanticide.

Harris, in February 2019, joined with other left-wing senators like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren to oppose the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

Soon after the vote, Harris refused to say if she believes abortion is ever wrong.

“I think it’s up to a woman to make that decision, and I will always stand by that,” Harris told a Daily Caller reporter, when asked about her vote.

“I think she needs to make that decision with her doctor, with her priest, with her spouse. I would leave that decision up to them,” Harris said, suggesting, at least implicitly, that some priests would encourage women to abort their babies.

*Her animus against Catholics. Writing for National Review, Alexandra DeSanctis noted

In late 2018, while evaluating the nomination of Brian Buescher to serve as a district judge in Nebraska, Harris posed a series of questions insinuating that his involvement in the Knights of Columbus — a charitable Catholic fraternal organization — disqualified him from serving on the bench

*The Judiciary: If she were to become president, Harris has pledged to nominate only judges who support a “right to abortion.” While serving in the Senate, Harris voted against confirmation of Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

*Late Abortions: As a Senator, Harris voted against the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act,” which would have protected unborn babies 20 weeks and older from late abortions on account of their ability to experience pain.

And on and on it goes. Finally, “Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California is proud to announce Planned Parenthood Action Fund has officially joined the resounding chorus of support for Kamala Harris to be the next President of the United States.”

Jodi Hicks, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of Californiasaid, “Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California is thrilled that Planned Parenthood Action Fund has officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president of the United States.”

No confusion here. Harris is the darling of the Abortion Industry which, should she win, would have one its own in the White House.
