Harris picks Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be her running mate, most pro-abortion team in history

This morning pro-abortion Vice President Kamala Harris gave the nod to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be her running mate.

His selection was hammered by the Trump campaign.

“It’s no surprise that San Francisco Liberal Kamala Harris wants West Coast wannabe Tim Walz as her running-mate – Walz has spent his governorship trying to reshape Minnesota in the image of the Golden State,” said Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s campaign press secretary. “Walz is obsessed with spreading California’s dangerously liberal agenda far and wide.”

Will Weissert of the Associated Press outlined in one paragraph just how far the Democrats would go when they assumed complete control of all three branches of government in 2022.

Their proudest accomplishments included sweeping protections for abortion rights that included the elimination of nearly all restrictions Republicans had enacted in prior years, including a 24-hour waiting period and parental consent requirements.

Or, as the New York Times put it, “In his second term, after the Democrats flipped the Minnesota Senate, Mr. Walz governed with the zeal of a convert.”

Walz’s unbridled support of abortion on demand throughout pregnancy is consistent with his ultra-liberal track record on a host of issues.  Not surprisingly, the Harris/Walz campaign did their best to portray him as a “moderate.”

National Review’s Jim Geraghty was having none of this [https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/tim-walz-jd-vance-and-the-madness-of-vibe-elections]:

When people say Walz has a “moderate vibe,” they mean he’s a heavyset, bald, glasses-and-flannel-wearing Midwesterner who looks like he could be a guy behind the counter at a hardware store, recommending the Phillips-head machine screw over the flathead machine screw.

Axios’s Stef W. Kight and Juliegrace Brufke remind us that

Walz has not always been known as a progressive darling, and many in Minnesota view him as the VP choice least likely to divide the Democratic Party — and most likely to excite a wider range of voters, as Axios Twin Cities reported.

Walz has backing from many influential Democratic voices, including the progressive wing of the party, which has at times turned on President Biden, especially over his handling of the war in Gaza.

House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) praised Harris’ selection of Walz as her running mate, calling him a “heartland of America Democrat.”

Walz is an abortion absolutist who will fit in nicely with Harris who has been the point person on abortion for the Biden administration.
