Illinois Gov. Pritzker polishes his pro-abortion credentials as Kamala Harris looks for a like-minded running mate

To their discredit, pro-abortionists take a back seat to no one in their manipulation of language. That has never been more true than since the Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade.

Perhaps pro-abortion Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker thinks his latest initiative to continue to inflate the number of dead babies will catch Vice President Kamala Harris’s eye. After all, as NRLC’s Director of Outreach Rai Rojas wrote in the August issue of NRL News, she has richly earned the moniker pro-abortion zealot. So, Pritzker would be the perfect compliment as her vice presidential running mate.

“The bill-signing [The Birth Equity Act] in Chicago came hours after Iowa enacted a six-week abortion ban, further enshrining Illinois as a safe haven for those seeking reproductive care services,” Tina Sfondeles writes. “Neighboring Indiana, Missouri and Kentucky also have abortion bans in place.”

“Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022, Pritzker has signed new laws expanding abortion access in Illinois, a key access point in the Midwest,” according to Grace Panetta. “He’s also tapped into his vast political and financial resources to fund abortion rights measures and candidates on the ballot”.

Since he was elected, Pritzker has moved heaven and earth (in a manner of speaking) to make Illinois the abortion capital of the Midwest. Most recently,  Sfondeles writes, there is “The Birth Equity Act” which “will require Illinois-based health insurance to cover abortion care without co-pays and deductibles, including coverage of abortion medications”. Sfondeles continues

“Since Roe v. Wade was overturned, Pritzker and the Democrat-led Illinois General Assembly have further expanded abortion rights in Illinois — seeking to create a safe haven for patients traveling from states that have banned abortions. Pritzker in October also launched Think Big America, a tax-exempt nonprofit organization aimed at protecting and expanding abortion rights in other states.

That’s just the latest. There was the creation of the Complex Abortion Regional Line for Access or CARLA for short–“which will be run by the Illinois Department of Health and Family Services, the Illinois Department of Public Health, the University of Illinois at Chicago, Rush University System for Health and (of course) the Chicago Abortion Fund.”

Then, a year ago virtually to the day, Pritzker announced a new $5 million grant program to help abortion providers expand their practices and establish mobile abortion facilities to increase access to baby killing.

All the way back in 2019, Pritzker encouraged the passage of the “Reproductive Health Act.” The Thomas More Society analyzed the bill and concluded it would comprise “the most radical piece of abortion legislation that has ever been introduced in Illinois, and…the most radical proposed in any state to date,” said Peter Breen, Vice President and Senior Counsel for the Thomas More Society, and former Illinois House Minority Floor Leader.

You’d expect the seats of government in pro-abortion states —House and Senate and the Governor— to come up with a myriad of ways to facilitate the killing. What’s happened is awful and few places can compete with Illinois in its race to the bottom.

Is Harris listening?
