Pro-abortion Tim Walz’s honeymoon with the press continues with praise oozing out of every story

The AP, talking about Kamala Harris and Tim Walz:

“WASHINGTON — The makings of a presidential ticket began in an unusual spot six months ago: a Minnesota abortion clinic.”

Ask yourself, how can you find fault with an elected official who holds piglets in his arm while broadly smiling at the state fair? Well, if the man is Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, you quickly move past the schmaltz and remember that this “everyone’s Midwestern dad” has turned my home state into an abortion haven.

The last couple of days we’ve documented the legacy media’s infatuation with Walz’s Midwest cool. They like him—okay, they adore him—because they have persuaded themselves that the public is so dense they will take their cues not from his abysmal record but from social media posts.

We think otherwise. Here are just a few of the many steps Walz has taken to make Minnesota, in effect, an abortion sanctuary state. The first is from Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life:

“Walz—who has described his record as “so pro-choice Nancy Pelosi asked me if I should tone it down”—signed into law the PRO Act to establish a ‘fundamental right’ to abortion for any reason and at any time during pregnancy. He then signed a bill repealing numerous longstanding and commonsense abortion policies, including informed consent for women and Minnesota’s Positive Alternatives program that had supported pregnant women and new mothers.

Next, The Daily Wire’s Leif Le Mahieu:

After he voted for a bill in 2018 that would protect babies who survive botched abortions, he apologized and said that he had accidentally voted for the measure.

“Accidentally voted for HR4712 today,” he said. “It was an honest mistake. I meant to vote NO, as I did on an identical bill last Congress. My apologies for the confusion. I’ll keep fighting for women’s access to health care.”

Next, National Right to Life:

“If elected, a Harris-Walz Administration would push for the most extreme abortion agenda policies of any administration,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are both radically pro-abortion and see the lives of precious unborn babies as disposable inconveniences.”

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are both abortion apologists who represent the most extreme pro-abortion position of the Democratic Party.

“Tim Walz has made his support of unlimited abortion a foundation of his administration,” continued Tobias. “Both Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have yet to hear of an abortion they would oppose.”

The collective media commentariat has also persuaded themselves that Walz’s appeal in Minnesota will transfer over to Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, three swing states that will go a long way toward deciding who the next President will be.

We’ll see. If this is no more sophisticated than drawing some broad “cultural” affinities between the states, then it’s much ado about next-to-nothing.

What is Walz’s job, besides being more likable than Kamala Harris? Even the press is having a hard time finding some conservative positions Harris has taken. She is what she is: A hard left California politician who holds the “right” to abortion to her bosom.

But by airbrushing Walz’s record, they can have the best of both possible worlds: killing countless babies with a smile while placating the most radical wing of a radical party

Cathy Blaeser, co-executive director of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL), put it best.

“Tim Walz isn’t like your favorite grandpa. He’s a threat to your grandpa—and to unborn and newborn children, too. He’s a strident ideologue, an abortion absolutist, and an ominous sign of what a Harris administration would portend.”
