In a history-making appearance, former President Donald Trump returned to Pennsylvania Wednesday—his first Pennsylvania visit since the assassination attempt in Butler.
Emotions ran high as people packed an arena in Harrisburg to hear a man who had had a near-death experience. In his speech, he talked about protecting innocent life, and the statement took on greater significance, given his brush with a bullet that grazed his ear.
The crowd was enthusiastic, greeting the former Chief Executive with chants such as “U.S.A., U.S.A.!” and “We love Trump!”
Pennsylvania is considered a key battleground state in this year’s Presidential sweepstakes. A number of analysts believe that the candidate who wins the Keystone State will win the White House.
During his appearance, former President Trump appeared to accept an invitation to debate presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. With precision and power, he laid out a strong case against her election, noting the extreme, radical nature of her positions.
Harris has been a standard-bearer for the abortion industry, touting policies which would eliminate all limits on abortion. These would include an end to protections against taxpayer funding of abortion and parental involvement in a minor girl’s abortion decision.
A number of the people in the audience for the Trump event had been in Butler that fateful day in July. Among them was GOP U.S. Senate candidate Dave McCormick, who narrowly missed being hit by a bullet at the Butler rally.
Perhaps the most moving incident at the Harrisburg event occurred when former President Trump requested a moment of silence for the former firefighter killed in Butler. Thousands of people lowered their heads and prayed for Corey Comperatore, who heroically shielded his family from harm while sacrificing his own life.
The power of that moment will likely never be forgotten by those in attendance at Wednesday’s rally.
