New Pro-Life Law to Protect Women

By Ben Clapper, Executive Director, Louisiana Right to Life

Last week, the Louisiana Department of Health released guidance on The Abortion by Fraud Act taking effect October 1st. The new law ensures that law enforcement has more authority to stop the abuse of abortion pills.

The guidance sets the record straight that …

  • The drug misoprostol (also know as cytotec) can be used with a valid prescription.

  • Misoprostol can be available on obstetric hemorrhage carts for use in postpartum care and emergencies.

In Louisiana, abortion pills have been a pervasive problem since the reversal of Roe v. Wade with online distributors sending them through the mail to minors and individuals that intend to use them to coerce or force women into abortions.

We know, too, that physicians often utilize one of the drugs, misoprostol, to manage miscarriage, stop postpartum hemorrhage, and more.

Lafayette physician, Dr. John Voltz, shared with us Act 246 will not hinder him from caring for patients without hesitation! Learn more about the Abortion by Fraud Act from our social media posts.

Could you help us by sharing the truth about this new law with others, especially those in the healthcare field?
