In an exclusive WRAL News Poll, conducted from September 4 through September 7, 43% of 900 North Carolinians said they support a law protecting unborn children after the sixth week while 39% opposed it. This is an encouraging five point decrease in opposition from when the question was asked in March.
In that earlier WRAL News Poll, 43% of respondents were in favor of the protective law versus 44% who opposed it, according to
the independent polling firm SurveyUSA.
“A state law enacted last year bans most abortions after the 12th week of pregnancy, while allowing for some exceptions, such as for rape or incest,” according to Paul Specht, a reporter for WRAL. “The new law reduced the window from 20 weeks.”
