Town hall events have served as a critical part of our educational outreach in the Keystone State over the years. There is something special about meeting people in their local communities and sharing with them the latest information about the cause of life.
This past week, our Bethlehem-Easton chapter held a town hall event near Allentown, an abortion hot spot. Dozens of people crowded the hall to hear our Education Director, Remil Teny, and me.
We covered a lot of ground—everything from babies miraculously saved from abortion to pro-abortion efforts to make abortion part of the Pennsylvania Constitution.
And then, the discussion turned to adoption. You see, a number of the attendees had been adopted as children. They were so thankful for the sacrifices made by their birth mothers and for the adoptive parents who welcomed them, nurtured them, and loved them.
Adoption is a beautiful alternative to the violence of abortion. Unfortunately, far too often, adoption is overlooked as a response to the challenges of an unexpected pregnancy. But it remains a life-affirming, life-saving way to cradle children in a circle of love.
The adoptees who were present at the town hall placed a face on the issue of “choice.” They could have easily become a statistic, but instead they are living, breathing examples of modern day miracles.
Sometimes, a town hall offers an amazing opportunity to showcase the victories of the pro-life movement. The adoptees who were willing to share their stories demonstrated those victories in action. Pro-life is pro-adoption and pro-family—and Pennsylvania and the rest of the country are better off as a result.
