By saying “no” to abortion, Hispanics assert that our children have a right to life and our families have a right to grow

Hispanics have a rich history rooted in strong family values, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to future generations. It’s surprising, then, that when Hispanics legally migrate to America—often from countries with protective pro-life laws—the rate of abortion within these communities rises significantly.

Abortion rates among Latinas in the U.S. are alarmingly high, reflecting a disturbing trend: even though there are twice as many non-Hispanic white women of reproductive age, Latinas undergo twice as many abortions per capita. (12.3 abortions per 1,000 for Hispanic women, compared to 6 per 1,000 among white women.)

This disparity isn’t accidental; it’s the result of a targeted effort that has been unfolding for decades, undermining family-centered values and affecting vulnerable communities.

Planned Parenthood, one of the largest abortion providers in the U.S., was founded by Margaret Sanger, a woman who openly supported eugenics—a belief system that sought to “improve” human populations by controlling the birth rates of certain communities.

Sanger viewed communities of color, including Latinos, as “unfit” and sought to limit our growth through sterilization and abortion. This legacy lives on in the fact that abortion clinics are disproportionately located in or near minority communities, turning a profit at the expense of vulnerable families.

For Latinos, rejecting abortion means more than just opposing a procedure; it means reclaiming our cultural roots that honor family, protect the innocent, and value each life as a gift. By saying “no” to abortion and those who promote and profit from it, we are standing up against a history that aimed to limit our future.

We must assert that our children have a right to life and our families have a right to grow. Let’s preserve our heritage, honor our ancestors, and protect the future of our community by choosing life.

We must reject any and all candidates that support limitless abortion through all nine months of pregnancy and who work to eliminate the rights of parents to be involved in their minor daughter’s lives by their revoking their rights of involvement when a young girl seeks to have a dangerous and invasive procedure like abortion.

These are not our values. This is not who we are.
