Unlike the nearest Planned Parenthood

A pro-abortion vandal or vandals defaced a sign in front of Salem Pregnancy Center in Winston-Salem. The center helps people facing unplanned pregnancies by offering free ultrasounds, baby items, and parenting classes.
The vandal(s) wrote “Scare” over “Care” to make the sign read “Pregnancy Scare Center” and wrote “Go to Planned Parenthood.”
They also left a note that said, “Consider: ‘Harm ye none’ in shoes you haven’t worn.” This, as Live Action News points out, may be a reference to the witch’s rede.
But is Salem Pregnancy Center “harming” people, and is Planned Parenthood a better option? Let’s look into it.
Failed Inspections at Planned Parenthood
The nearest Planned Parenthood to Salem Pregnancy Center, located right in Winston-Salem, has failed not one, not two but three inspections, according to ProblemsWithPlannedParentho
The facility failed inspections in 2015, 2016, and 2020.
Here is a summary of the most serious violations:
Clinic Conditions
Biohazardous waste, including used needles, was stored close to employees’ personal belongings and extra supplies.
A syringe filled with lidocaine was left unattended and unsecured, leaving open the possibility of contamination or tampering.
A disposable lab coat and masks were used repeatedly, and there was not enough personal protective equipment for the staff.
Staff
There was no evaluation of competency for staff preparing and administering medication. One of the doctors administering medication was not registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. The clinic failed to ensure that a healthcare assistant preparing medication was competent to do so.
The staff didn’t properly disinfect instruments. The staff failed to “follow safe practices to prevent the spread of infection,” according to the report. There was possible cross-contamination between dirty and clean instruments as dirty instruments were lifted and passed over clean ones. Staff kept dirty and clean instruments in the same sink.
Staff failed to wear sufficient personal protective equipment when handling dirty instruments. In a subsequent inspection, this was found to still be a problem, and staff were given more training.
According to the clinic’s regional director, “a lot of our docs don’t use masks during procedures.”
Staff did not practice good hand hygiene while handling potentially infectious material. Because of this, they were required to go through more training.
Medical Records and Labels
Documents verifying informed consent weren’t signed by doctors. This was the case for every patient whose paperwork was examined. This was an ongoing problem, also cited in a second inspection two years later.
In this second inspection, it was also found that the time of the procedure wasn’t given for any of the patients whose records were examined. By way of excuse, the clinic’s regional director said that the clinic’s health service manager “did not receive the proper training and it was just poor training on my part.”
Other
The facility failed to conduct periodic checks of emergency equipment including the emergency defibrillator. The clinic’s regional director and vice president said, “I know we aren’t checking it, and to be honest, we haven’t looked at the manufacturer recommendations or developed a protocol. We are going to have to determine how often checks should be done . . . Maybe every six months or maybe we need to do it every month.”
This lack of testing of equipment needed in an emergency could put patients’ lives at risk.
With its poorly trained employees, unclean instruments, and uninspected emergency equipment, Planned Parenthood put the lives and safety of its patients at risk.
The pro-abortion vandal(s) left the following note:
Is Salem Pregnancy Center harming people? Not according to the many reviews people left online.
Salem Pregnancy Center has a 4.8 rating out of 5 on Google Reviews.
Out of 72 reviews, nearly all were five stars. I only saw two negative reviews. One was from a pro-abortion woman who came to the center pregnant and took offense at being told of studies documenting abortion’s risks, which she refused to believe.
Some women wrote about the free supplies and gifts they were given at Salem Pregnancy Center, which helped them tremendously:

There are many more positive reviews:
So, far from harming people, Salem Pregnancy Center has been giving tremendous help and support to pregnant moms in need.
Planned Parenthood’s Negative Reviews
In contrast, Planned Parenthood’s reviews were not nearly as positive. Planned Parenthood did have some good reviews. But the reviews were very mixed, with plenty of bad ones.
Here is a sampling of some of them.
In contrast to Salem Pregnancy Center, some reviewers complained about rude staff:
Another woman may lose her job or suffer at work because Planned Parenthood workers refused to take the time to fill out some simple paperwork:
Others complained of very long wait times. This is often caused when clinics overbook to see as many patients (and make as much money) as they possibly can:
Unlike Salem Pregnancy Center, Planned Parenthood facilities charge for everything they do and offer no services for free. And, in at least one case, they overcharged:
Others complained that PP staff never answered the phone or returned calls. In one case, this meant someone couldn’t get medication:

Looking at these contrasting reviews, and taking into consideration the poor medical care, untrained staff, and dirty instruments documented in Planned Parenthood’s failed inspections, it’s clear the pro-abortion vandal(s) are doing no favors for women by directing them to Planned Parenthood instead of Salem Pregnancy Center.
Although they accuse the pregnancy center of “harming” others, it’s clear that the only facility harming people is Planned Parenthood. Even putting aside the fact that Planned Parenthood is killing preborn babies and leaving pregnant people with post-abortion trauma, the so-called “care” it’s providing is substandard and harmful.
In contrast, Salem Pregnancy Center is making a positive difference in the lives of mothers, families, and babies.
The pro-abortion vandal(s) embraced the lie that Planned Parenthood helps people and provides good “care.” In reality, the problems at Planned Parenthood are systemic and common. Just look at the Problems With Planned Parenthood site.
The vandal(s) attacked an organization that goes out of its way to help people and give them free, loving support. They never bothered to do any actual research. Instead, they believed pro-abortion propaganda. They took no notice of Planned Parenthood’s failed inspections or the bad experiences of women who actually went there and ignored the many women who were helped by Salem Pregnancy Center.
