Pro-Life Poets—Sharpen Your Pencils!

Oct 29, 2024

By Laura Echevarria

Let Go the Goat is a podcast and Substack page started by Mike Rippy who is an art professional working at the University of Notre Dame art museum. Let Go the Goat focuses largely on poetry and poets.

Mike Rippy also volunteers for pro-life organizations and has combined his interest in poetry with his work on the right to life to create a poetry contest focused on the right to life.

The winning prize is $2500.

According to the contest page, Let Go the Goat will accept “poems related to or responding to the award’s theme: a culture of life. The purpose of the award is to engage with a culture of life from an artistic perspective.”

The contest is open to those who are age 18 or older. Submitted poems must be a maximum of 40 lines in length and written in English. In order to keep the judging fair, we want the contestants to remain anonymous. Contest organizers ask that no identifying information be included in the poem itself which must be submitted by email as a PDF attachment.

There is no limit to the number of poems one can enter but there is a charge of $10 for each entry until November 1. After November 1, the entry fee increases to $15.
