You may remember former ABC senior national correspondent Terry Moran who was tossed out on his keester after posting a rant blasting White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and President Trump as “world class haters.” Although Moran quickly deleted the post, he was initially suspended and later fired.
“We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post — which was a clear violation of ABC News policies — we have made the decision not to renew,” an ABC News spokesperson piously said via a written statement.
“At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism,” the statement added.
Fortunately, since it was a written statement, they didn’t have to hide their expression.
What exactly did Moran say?
“Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater. You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.”
And for good measure, Moran added
“Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred only [sic] a means to an end, and that end his[sic] his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment.”
It gets better, in a manner of speaking.
On his new home at Substack where Moran is free to totally release his inner anti-Trump demons, he sort of fessed up to his network’s bias against Trump.
Were we biased? Yes
Of course, in the next sentence he takes it all away.
Almost inadvertently, I’d say.
Moran then spends 389 words to let us know that he doesn’t
(a) take back or regret a syllable of the post I wrote about Stephen Miller and Donald Trump that got me fired by ABC;
(b) The manner of my…accelerated…departure from ABC News has earned me a reputation in many quarters as a raging, anti-Trump firebrand. So be it.;
And
(c) but inside the newsroom, I had a reputation of trying to get colleagues to see the other side, to walk a mile in the shoes of MAGA, to acknowledge the democratic forces that have made Donald Trump the dominant political figure of our time.
What are we supposed to take away? Admiration for his penetrating journalist eye! Whereas
News teams [not to be confused with Moran] go out with a microphone and a camera and accost people at Trump rallies
Moran offers that
to me that often comes off as weirdly anthropological and inaccurate, kind of like trying to understand nature by visiting a zoo.

So, yes, from my perspective, the old news networks are biased.
It’s not because of Mr. Moran. Naw, he should be admired for trying to understand the “democratic forces that have made Donald Trump the dominant political figure of our time.”
What a pious loser.
