The local newscast ended on a euphoric note: one of the news anchors had just given birth to a baby girl.
Little Savannah had to spend some time in the hospital because she was so small, weighing just a little more than four pounds.
Every so often, a birth does make the news. It is common, for instance, to report on the first local baby to be born in the new year. Unusual births, such as those in a taxicab or by the side of the road, might also be heralded on newscasts.
It is so ironic that the same broadcasts will routinely carry stories on so-called “abortion care.”
Abortion is completely unnatural and breaks the sacred bond between mother and child. It is a violation, the ultimate form of child abuse. It is an act of desperation, often spawned by a feeling of hopelessness.
I happened to meet someone recently who closely follows the news. And yet, he was completely unaware of the killing spree of the late abortionist Kermit Gosnell. When he Googled Gosnell, he was horrified by Gosnell’s vicious crimes.
For those who don’t know, Gosnell died in prison recently after serving time for the first-degree murders of three newborn babies and for involuntary manslaughter in the death of a female immigrant patient, Karnamaya Mongar. But the grand jury in the case estimated that Gosnell had taken the lives of thousands of babies by “snipping” their spinal cords.
It is way past time for news outlets to reform their ways when it comes to reporting on the issue of abortion. Balance and fairness in the media demand that the truth be told about the development of the unborn child and the devastation abortion causes women
I celebrate the birth of Savannah and look forward to a time when all babies will be treated with the same respect and admiration.
