Feb 18, 2022 | 2022 Press Releases, Press Releases, Press Room

WASHINGTON – Today, National Right to Life (NRLC) mourns the passing of Congressman Jim Hagedorn of Minnesota. Congressman Hagedorn passed away at the age of 59 from cancer.

“Congressman Hagedorn, like his father before him, supported protections for the most vulnerable among us,” said David N. O’Steen, Ph. D., executive director of National Right to Life. “The pro-life movement is deeply indebted to Congressman Jim Hagedorn and his father, former Congressman Tom Hagedorn, for their years of service on behalf of the unborn.”

Congressman Hagedorn had a 100% voting record with National Right to Life. He served the 1st District of Minnesota.

“Congressman Hagedorn was a faithful ally of unborn children during his time representing southern Minnesota. He never failed to vote pro-life and wasn’t afraid to speak out strongly for the rights of the unborn. He will be missed,” said Scott Fischbach, executive director of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, the Minnesota affiliate of National Right to Life.

Founded in 1968, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of affiliates in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement, National Right to Life works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
