WASHINGTON — Today, the Republican Study Committee endorsed the Heartbeat Protection Act introduced by Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.).

“We applaud the Republican Study Committee for endorsing this vital legislation,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Tragically, 60% of all abortions are done after the baby’s heart has begun to beat. Rep. Kelly’s bill would protect these little babies with a beating heart.”

“While the Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats continue to promote abortion up until birth, we thank Chairman Banks and the Republican Study Committee for standing up for life,” said Jennifer Popik, J.D., director of federal legislation for National Right to Life.

Founded in 1968, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of affiliates in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement, National Right to Life works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
